HELL:- A simple word confused by religion:---What's hell really??

HELL, in many Mythology, folklore and Religious traditions worldwide, is defined as a place of eternal fiery torment and punishment in an afterlife, where the Devil and his Demons rules over, delighting over the fiery torments being metted on its inhabitants. But is that how the Word of God explains Hell to be???

"Hell and hellfire" has been a basic teaching of the Christendom and many other religions worldwide for many centuries. It is understable why much confusion and misunderstanding has been caused through the early translators of the Bible, for persistently rendering the Hebrew word SHEOL, and the Greek word HADES and GEHENNA, by the English word HELL. The simple transliterations of these words by the translators of the revised editions of the Bible has not sufficed to appreciably clear up this confusion and misconception. Nevertheless, such transliteration and consistent rendering does enable the Bible student to make an accurate comparision of the texts in which these original words appear and with an open mind arrive at a correct understanding of their true significance......The Bible also uses GEHENNA, GRAVE, HADES, TARTARUS to render to the same word, in general meaning mankind's common grave.

THE KING JAMES version, as well as the CATHOLIC DOUAY Version translates the Hebrew word "SHEOL" and the Greek words "HAIDES" and "GEHENNA" into "HELL". In King James version, the word "HELL" is rendered from the word "SHEOL" some 31 times, and from "HAIDES" some 10 times. This version is not consistent since the word "SHEOLl" is also translated "GRAVE" some 31 times, and "PIT" some 3 times, in the same Bible version.....In the Douay Version,....The same word.."SHEOL" is rendered as "HELL" some 64 times, As "PIT" once and as "DEATH" once.....

So, this issue of religion, associating an imaginary place with fiery torment, where bad people are sent after death, is not consistent with Bible, which teaches us in Ecclesiates 9:5, 6..."For the living knows they will die, but THE DEAD KNOWS NOTHING AT ALL, NOR DO THEY HAVE ANY MORE REWARD,".... Lets analyze some few scriptures that gives us a clear insight on the situation of the deads, and where the dead really are.

THE ORIGIN OF THE HELL/HEAVEN/PURGATORY THEORY

When Adam rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, It was like he had declared God to be a liar, and all that God had foretold would befall him should he rebel, had to befall him, for God never lies (Heb. 6:8) Jehovah had warned him of the consequences of his rebellion. He had to die. (Gen. 2:16). Adam had seen animals die in the garden of Eden, So he well knew what death meant, -A situation of not being anymore......Satan had insinuated to Eve that God was being untrue and unfair to them by prohibiting them from eating from the tree of good and evil.....That God knew that in the very day they would eat from that tree, their eyes would be opened and they would be like God, knowing what is good and what is bad. -(Gen. 3:5).....Here, we see two theories being presented to Adam and his wife, one from God, and the other one from the Devil, and the proponents of both theories claimed each to be true.....and both theories had their consequences.......

Once Adam decided to believe the Devil and his false theory of not dying and being like God, He had declared God to be a Liar, and he(Adam) had to face the consequences of his decision, without interference from God, hence he had to be kicked from the garden of God, Eden, where a "Tree of life" also grew. (Gen 2:22,23) He had made himself the testing objects of the both theories, if he would not die after the rebellion, then the Devil would be true, and Jehovah a liar and vice versa. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve died, and even their offspring down to our time. "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin and so death spread through all men because they had all sinned" -(Romans 5:12).......

Even though the consequences of Adams actions were plain for all to see, The Devil, being the cunny as he is and a father of the lie (John 8:44), did not stop at that, He continued his lie, not of physical immortality but of an immortal soul, to counter his now exposed lie to Eve that she would not die. He now claimed that man did live even after death. That even afterphysical death, man continued to live in another form, and hence words like hell, purgatory, heavens and so forth arose to define a false place where the dead ended, either in bliss or torment. He used his worldwide empire of false religion to propagate his theory of "once alive, always alive".....He was still determined to carry on with the Edenic lie that brought forth death and woe to the mankind family. Sadly, through the false religion, many people believed and continue to believe this fatal lie,,,,,,,,,Whereas but the Bible teaches us that once someone dies, he stops to be, and he is nowhere. (Eccl. 9:5,10), The Devil through his religion teaches that, a man continue to live on even after death. What a sad confusion to a plain truth???
